A powerful nor’easter is moving up the East Coast, bringing damaging winds, heavy rain, and coastal flooding. Residents are urged to stay alert.

The nor’easter’s path is slowly moving north from the mid-Atlantic, with the most severe conditions expected Sunday through Tuesday.

Water levels along New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia could reach heights not seen in nearly a decade, threatening homes, roads, and beaches.

Over 20 river gauge locations are forecast to reach moderate or major flood stage. Areas in Virginia Tidewater, Delaware, and southern New Jersey are most at risk.

Damaging wind gusts of 40–55 mph could lash the coast, downing trees and causing power outages, even as far inland as major cities like New York and Boston.

Rainfall of 1–3 inches is expected along most of the East Coast, with localized flash flooding possible in areas receiving multiple rounds of heavy rain.
