As the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas continues, both sides are cautiously adjusting to the new reality on the ground. Humanitarian aid has started reaching parts of the Gaza Strip, while Palestinians are returning to their homes to face the aftermath of two years of conflict.

In Israel, authorities are preparing to receive the remains of more hostages. So far, four bodies handed over by Hamas have been identified, with two more confirmed as Yossi Sharabi and Daniel Peretz, who were kidnapped in the deadly October 7, 2023 attack. One of the recently returned bodies, however, did not match any known hostages, prompting further investigations by the Israeli authorities.

Meanwhile, Gaza continues to bear the heavy toll of the conflict. Hospitals have reported at least 25 deaths in the past 24 hours, including several people who were trapped under rubble. The Gaza Health Ministry says many victims are still unreachable due to damaged roads and ongoing safety concerns.

Aid organizations are stepping up their efforts to provide relief. The UN World Food Programme has delivered 137 trucks of food since the ceasefire began, aiming to support bakeries, nutrition programs, and general food distribution across Gaza. Other international groups, including the Red Cross and WHO, have been able to reach hospitals and communities more freely after Israeli forces withdrew from key areas.

The Rafah border crossing with Egypt remains closed, though aid continues to flow through other checkpoints, including Kerem Shalom. UN officials are urging Israel to allow more supplies into Gaza immediately, stressing that thousands of people still rely on emergency assistance for survival.

As the situation slowly stabilizes, families on both sides are grappling with loss, grief, and the hope that the ceasefire can hold long enough for recovery to begin.
