Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is back in the headlines after roasting former President Donald Trump for a head-scratching geography comment about the Middle East.

During a recent press briefing, Trump claimed that Iran and Qatar were “within walking distance.” In reality, the two nations are separated by roughly 119 miles of the Persian Gulf—making the trip a bit more challenging than a stroll.

Kimmel couldn’t resist. On Jimmy Kimmel Live! he quipped, “Unless you’re Jesus, you cannot walk there,” drawing laughs from his audience and sparking waves of reactions online. The jab landed just days after Trump was praised for brokering a Gaza ceasefire and ahead of his scheduled visit to Israel on October 12.

The exchange marked Kimmel’s full return after a short suspension last month following controversial remarks about conservative activist Charlie Kirk. ABC briefly pulled the show but reinstated it five days later.

On Tuesday’s episode, Kimmel continued his trademark political satire, mocking Trump’s foreign-policy boasts and his use of a “Sharpie the size of a subway sandwich” to sign the ceasefire deal in Egypt. He joked that the former president “never misses a chance to turn diplomacy into doodling.”

Trump, for his part, has often lashed out at late-night comedians, previously calling Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Jimmy Fallon “talentless.” But Kimmel seems unfazed—leaning harder into humor that blurs the line between politics and entertainment.

The viral moment once again underscores how late-night comedy remains a mirror of American politics, using laughter to fact-check, critique, and keep powerful figures on their toes.
