The Mega Millions jackpot is climbing again — and this time, it’s inching closer to breaking into the game’s all-time top 10 list.

As of Monday morning, Oct. 13, the jackpot has reached an impressive $600 million, with a cash value of $277.2 million, according to the official Mega Millions website. If it crosses $648 million, it would become the tenth-largest jackpot ever — a mark last reached back in December 2013 when lucky winners from California and Georgia shared the prize.

So far in 2025, there have already been four Mega Millions jackpot winners. The most recent was a player from Virginia, who claimed $348 million on June 27. Before that, jackpots were won in Ohio, Illinois, and Arizona, each ranging between $112 million and $344 million. Clearly, it’s been a busy year for lottery luck.

For anyone new to the game, Mega Millions is simple to play. You pick six numbers — five white balls from 1 to 70 and one gold Mega Ball between 1 and 24. You can also use “Quick Pick” for random numbers if you don’t want to choose manually.

Tickets can be purchased at gas stations, grocery stores, or online in select states. Each ticket costs just $2, and even if you don’t hit the jackpot, there are smaller prizes that can multiply up to 10 times with the built-in Megaplier feature.

So, if you’re feeling lucky this week, it might be worth grabbing a ticket. Who knows — your numbers could soon be part of Mega Millions history.
